Personal Attack Protection
Although instances of people being attacked in their home or business are comparatively rare it is still well worth adding protection from personal attack to your security system. And because a personal attack button (often called a “panic button”) is a simple device and is just conected to a spare channel on the security system control unit it will usually cost very little to add this extra protection to the system. A wireless (or wire-free) panic button may cost a little more but has the benifit that it can be carried with you and will always be at hand if needed. Wireless PA buttons are available in several foms, including keyfob, belt clip or neck lanyard types.
Once connected and the system programmed to monitor this channel 24hrs a day (in other words even when the burglar alarm itself is off), you and your family have a simple and effective means to summon help if under threat of attack at any time of the day or night.
It is important to understand that if you have a “bell only” alarm system then pressing a PA button will only trigger the audible warning devices and be heard in the premises and by neighbours. But if you have a monitored system, it will send a Personal Attack to our ARC (Alarm Receiving Centre) which our operator will pass straight to the police control room. Police do treat PA signals from registered alarm systems as a high priority and in normal circumstances attend the premises very quickly.
